The UN Security Council
The United Nations was created in 1945. The Korean War was the most severe test its had to face since then. In June 1950, North Korean troops unexpectedly invaded South Korea. America wanted the invasion immediately brought before the Security Council. At the meeting, America claimed that North Korea had broken world peace by attacking South Korea. They recalled North Korea to retreat back to the 38th parallel. Out of eleven countries, nine supported this view. Russia was absent and one was abstained. On June 27, 1950, America called on the United Nations so they could use force to get North Koreans out because they ignored the Security Council's resolution of June 25th.
United Nations troops landed an ambitious assault on Inchon on September 15th, 1950. The attack was successful. They managed to cut North Korea's army in half and pushed them out of South Korea. When MacArthur advanced to China despite their warnings, they were pushed back when China intervened. In 1953, a ceasefire was agreed Panmunjom. The UN received much support and South Korea regained its independence whilst being supported by America. Russia had dropped its UN Council boycott and rejoined during the Korean War and used its vetos to block many of the Security Council initiatives. Because of that, America put on a resolution called 'Uniting for Peace'. It stated that if the Security Council vetoed any initiative that was considered important for creating peace, then the General Assembly should take over to keep the impetus for peace. Russia didn't approve and this was the source of many arguments for a long time.
The Korean War showed that the United Nations was dominated by America. Nearly 90% of all army personnel, 93% of all air power and 86% of naval power for the Korean war was from America.

Implications :
I believe the UN Council played a vital role in the Korean War. They were the ones who made the decisions and their job was to bring peace. The US decided to side with South Korea and help them because they didn't support communism and felt it was unfair that North Korea had invaded without any warning. Through a series of negotiations, their efforts helped in the end and the war ended even though it wasn't official because North and South Korea never officially declared war against each other.
