US Policy of Containment
The US Policy of Containment was a foreign policy strategy created and executed by the US after World War II. It's first key purpose was in the Truman Doctrine of 1947. He warned of the evils of communism which he believed, threatened the democratic freedom if its people. The Soviet Union also wanted a world modeled by their own country's society and values like the US. Through the United State's point of view, communism was a slave state that controlled the private life and thoughts of its citizens. Therefore, this policy stated that the US would try to stop or contain the spread of Communism by creating strategic alliances or support to help weaker countries.
How was this related to the Korean War? Well in the war, Truman and the United Nations aimed for the destruction of communism in North Korea. They sent UN forces across the 38th parallel to take over North Korea. However, China happened to intervene and they pushed the UN troops back to the 38th parallel. Douglas MacArthur moved the US to a commitment the containment policy. As China continued to succeed, Truman blamed MacArthur's focus on victory and adopted a "limited war" or containment policy. MacArthur wasn't happy about that. The US were simply trying to take North Korea out of communist power because they believed it was wrong. Their struggle to, ignited a series of battles.

Implications:
I think that the US's Policy of Containment really pushed them into helping South Korea. They didn't want Asia to be caught up in the global spread of communism that was taking place. They ended up becoming one of South Korea's most helpful allies during the war and fought bravely against China who supported North Korea and communism. This set the two sides apart : communism & anticommunism.
